I am re-reading 「卒業生」 and I cannot stop reading this scene, it's so beautiful. I've left the Japanese script in tact and wrote descriptions plus translations below it.
Basically what happens is that Kusakabe goes off to do this music gig in France, which can be his big chance in making it into the entertainment world since he wants to make a career out of music. Before he leaves, he and Sajo switch scarves so they would have a piece of each other while they're apart. On the day of graduation, Kusakabe arrives back in Tokyo and Sajo rushes over to the stairwell to find him. When Kusakabe sees Sajo, he calls up to him.

草壁：...なんで
Kusakabe: "...Why?" (He looked down to the floor)
草壁：なんで？
Kusakabe: "Why?" (He said with more deliberation)
佐条：なんでって... なんてってことないだろ。せっかくこっちで仕事のつながりができてきてるのにそんな...
Sajo: "Why...? You should know. You finally find a job over here that's related to what you want to do, and to just..."
草壁：でも京都なんてすぐじゃん、それにネットもあるんだしべつに...
Kusakabe: "But Kyoto is just around the corner, and we still have the net, it's not like..."
佐条：そうは言ってもわざわざ東京を離れることない
Kusakabe: "Even if you say so, there's no reason for you to leave Tokyo."
草壁：...だって一週間だよ？

Sajo is shocked, tears are streaming down his face as well as Kusakabe's and the two boys looked into each other's eyes. Sajo closed his eyes, and brought Kusakabe's hands to his face, while his tears continued to flow down his face and then replied.

Sajo: "... Yes."

The two boys held each other tightly and kissed. When they finally pulled apart, Kusakabe looked at his lover.

Kusakabe reached over and touched Sajo's tie, the other boy stiffened, cheeks flushed, and froze for a moment. Kusakabe, eyes turned up to look at his lover, silently peered into Sajo's face. Sajo, knowing what would happen next, silently allowed Kusakabe to continue loosening his tie.
And the next few pages is one of the sweetest sex scenes I have seen for a long time. They say anticipation makes the moment sweeter and after three books, this was well-worth waiting for.
I couldn't help, but translate this, because it's been on my mind since I read it yesterday. The Japanese wasn't too hard, though I could probably still have messed up somewhere in translation so we'll have to wait and see what the scanlators come up with later ^__^

ZE Chapter 48
This chapter made me so happy T__T I just about cried. First I read Nakamura Asumiko's "Doukyusei" and now I'm about to cry with ZE chapter 48. Finally something unexpected and really good happens, and it's the first time it's ever happened as well in the series timeline.
Basically, in the last five chapters or so, it focuses on the arc between Shoui and Asari, how they met and how their relationship grew to what it was. Then like a lot of other arcs, the kamisama "dies" by turning back into paper. To get their kamisama back, the kotodama have to go to Waki, the maker of the kamisama, and bring them back. The only problem is that once the kamisama die and come back, all their memories from before are completely gone. The kotodama are usually frantic and want their kamisama to remember them from before -- the only exception is Ouka and Benio, since Benio's previous owner was very abusive.
Anyway, I am totally going to spoil this and not care 'cause it's my blog lol -- Asari turns back into paper and Shoui takes his paper form back to Waki to be fixed. In the other world, Asari tells Rikiichi that he has to go back to the real world for Shoui, and then wakes back up. When he comes to, he doesn't remember who Shoui is anymore and Waki decides to basically scrap him, but Shoui steps in the way and gets stabbed. No matter what, he believed Asari to still be the same one and refuses to give him up. Waki walks away, believing that Shoui is just going to accept this new version of Asari, but then he sees something that astounds him.
Asari, seeing that Shoui is bleeding and then feeling relief when Asari isn't hurt, feels pain to his heart, and then kisses Shoui to heal him and a flood of past memories come flashing back to him. When he breaks the kiss, he is the real Asari again and yells at Shoui for being so stupid and getting hurt. If he had died then him coming back would have been pointless. Shoui is estactic to see Asari and embraces him tightly. Waki, on the other hand is in total shock.
According to Waki, he's seen it countless times, where the kamisama cannot remember their past after turning back into paper. He then goes into his room where there's a huge black box and he opens in. Inside is a beautiful sleeping/dead kamisama who looks quite a bit like Kon. And this sets the stage for the next arc: Waki and Magane ^__^ (I think that's his name, 'cause I just read the Chinese version -- when there's something I really want, I will make myself read it and know what it means lol -- but I need to read the Japanese version to confirm it ^__^;)
Anyway, it's been said that Waki has always been quite fond of Kon, and this dead kamisama may be the reason for it. Perhaps, the reason why Waki never brought this kamisama back is 'cause he didn't want him to be unable to remember who he is -- seeing that all the other kamisama can't remember their kotodama. But after seeing Asari, maybe there's a renewed sense of hope that perhaps the love he and this kamisama had would be enough to have him remember everything.
But finally a Waki arc *___* So exciting~! I think at this point we've done just about everyone we've seen already. There will most likely be a Rikiichi arc, either as a final one or towards the end. We may be almost near the finish line for this series. I'm going to guess that it will hit around 12 volumes or maybe 15. Each major arc spanned around two books for the most part, so I'm going to guess that the Shoui x Asari arc will go through volume 9, and probably some of 10. Waki's arc will probably begin towards the end of 10 and stretch through 11. We may or may not get an arc with Ouka, 'cause I'm not exactly sure what importance she holds as a Mitou Clan family member. For the most part, we see the two brothers do all of the work so we may or may not get anything with Ouka. But if we're going to get into Waki's arc, we might be nearing the end as he is the creator of the kamisama.
Anyway, I am so in love with this series T___T. I think one of the perks of moving to the bay area is having easy access to Kinokuniya *___* I can't imagine life without that store now. It's sad to say that I almost wouldn't want to ever go back to Oregon because of the store lol.

Nakamura Asumiko - Doukyusei
I don't think I have read a manga with such precise and clean lines before. Well, maybe I have, but this one is very, very clean. A lot of manga have so much detail at times that your eyes have a hard time focusing on everything. In Nakamura Asumiko's "Doukyusei" and "Sotsugyousei," the lines and toning are very well done.
At first, I wasn't sure about the style of artwork, but when I saw how things were laid out and how nicely done all the lines and toning were, I was just mesmerized. To further how impressed I was, the story was just as captivating and sweet. It was perfect for Valentine's Day even though I am not a fan of the holiday.
The story of "Doukyusei" is about two boys, Sajo and Kusakabe, who attend an all-boys school. Sajo is your typical smart kid, while Kusakabe is the wilder-looking child who loves to play music. Though they are in the same class, neither boys really talked until Kusakabe caught Sajo in the music room one day trying to practice singing. After giving Sajo some coaching lessons, which made him better, Kusakabe found himself falling in love with Sajo. The two boys later entered into a sweet and gentle relationship, that is expressed most through light touching and silent understanding. The love they feel for each other and the weight of their feelings is etched into every moment of the story, and you cannot help, but gravitate towards it.
If one loves stories that have depth created from the feelings between characters then this series is one that is highly recommended. The artwork is very refined and beautiful, and the story is extremely poignant. I have never read any of Nakamura Asumiko's works before, but I think I'm hooked now.

Hana to Ryuu (Kazuma Kodaka)
I remember reading this back when MegKF was still around and scanlating and now NoDeadline's taken over this project. I just read up to volume 20 of the doujinshi spin-off series to Kizuna, and while I love it, I am pretty conflicted at the moment.
The story is about a 22 year-old boy named Kazama Ryuji who is the last son of the Kazama yakuza group. When he is young, his parents and the entire group were cut down and massacred, and he managed to escape with his aunt. His aunt raised him along with her own son, Tomoya, and everyone was doing well until some men started looking for Ryuji and went to his house. When Ryuji came home one day, the men were raping his aunt, and when she told him to grab Tomoya and run, they killed her. Ryuji lost it and murdered all the men in front of Tomoya, which further traumatized the young boy. Ryuji then went to prison for a few years where he was the sex tool and plaything for the other prisoners until he came up with a plan to kill them all, while making it look like self-defense. When he was finally released, he met a man whom accosted him for sex. Since Ryuji did not have any money, he decided to let the man do so until memories of his prison time made him nauseous and he did not want to go through with the trade. The man was insistent until Araki Hitoshi, a yakuza, stepped in and saved Ryuji.
At first Ryuji wanted to repay Hitoshi by having sex with him, but Hitoshi refused his advances and treated the boy kindly like a friend instead. Over time, the two develop a good relationship with each other and Ryuji falls in love with Hitoshi. Meanwhile, people are still searching for Ryuji and want to kill him, and this causes the two men to constantly be in danger. Still, Hitoshi and Ryuji fall for each other and become lovers.
This is the first 16 volumes of the story, and somewhere in volume 11 & 12, Hitoshi and Ryuji go to Osaka where they meet the Sagano family and see the younger Araki Masanori plus young Sagano Kai. Things start out pretty depressing in the first several chapters, but becomes much better during 11-16 for the two characters, and then hell breaks loose after that. I saw volume 22 on sale somewhere, but can't really afford it. Doujinshi is really expensive =_=; More expensive than regular manga tanks or bunko even =_= *sigh*
Anyway, after reading volume 20, I am ok with not reading it for a while, because it made me really mad and banging my head against walls so yeah... I do like the story, don't get me wrong, but it is kind of vexing at the moment. It is definitely much darker than Kizuna, and by a lot =_= It's so dark, I can't even look at it anymore =_=; *sigh* Anyway, I should sleep and get up early to study -- I say this every day =_= and then I choose sleep over studying, so sad. Well, going to try anyway.

Nodame Cantabile - Encore - Opera Arc

The story basically starts with Nodame and Chiaki returning to Japan as Mine has decided to help with the opera troupe to put on this Rising Star-like production for opera. The first chapter was really cute lol, and put her heart to rest as I was assured that Nodame didn't just end like that with volume 23. Oh good, people still know how to make me happy ^_^

BECK (映画)
I am just really excited at the moment!!! They made a live-action version of BECK and I love BECK!!!!! I watched the anime before reading the manga, but I really like the story and the music. Just saw a trailer for the movie and the cast is pretty close to what I have in mind appearance-wise, as for the actual acting we'll have to see. Mizushima Hiro is Ryusuke, Sato Takeru is Koyuki, Kiritani Kenta is Chiba, Mukai Osamu is Taira, and Nakamura Aoi is Saku, and Kutsuna Shiori is Maho. With the exception of Satou Takeru and Kutsuna Shiori, the rest really do look like the characters. Koyuki is kind of wimpy so having Sato Takeru play him will be interesting for me to see. I think Maho is a pretty strong-willed girl, so while Kutsuna Shiori has the ideal look for Maho, I wonder if she can pull off her character. Mizushima Hiro definitely has the look that I imagined for Ryusuke, but will he be able to pull off a total bad ass who can speak fluent English? Maho can speak fluent English too so I wonder how mangled the English will be in the movie lol. If Tsumabuki Satoshi were younger, he'd fit right into the role of Koyuki lol. He always looks quite wimpy lol, and yet I still love him ^__^.
Well, other than acting in question, the look is pretty much perfect at this point for me. They all match what I have in mind for the live action, which is a first. I always have issues with at least one or two actors that I feel do not look the part, but oh well ^_^;;; (For instance... I am still not sure about Ninomiya Kazunari playing the lead in Ooku... but we'll see)
On a side note... I have been very obsessed with 8018 doujinshi lately, especially the ones by Yoneda Kou -- one of my newest fave mangaka as of early last year -- and I am searching the net like mad. It's so bad, I really should not be wasting my time like this, but I just cannot stop myself @_@ *sigh* I love Katekyo Hitman Reborn so much, it's kind of silly lol. Why am I such a sucker for shounen series? At first, I was stuck on 6927, then 8059, then D18, but now I'm just crazy about 8018. I really can't see 1880 even though I tried one doujinshi with the pairing in that way, but at the same time with Hibari's seme-like dominance, it is also hard to see Yamamoto top him, but I guess they're interchangeable. Mmm, why am I so obsessed with 8018? It is all Yoneda Kou's fault! If I don't love her work so much, I wouldn't be in this predicament lol. I blame her talent and storytelling skills! Just like I blame Yoshinaga Fumi for constantly distracting from life because her stories are so beautiful *___*
Well, other than acting in question, the look is pretty much perfect at this point for me. They all match what I have in mind for the live action, which is a first. I always have issues with at least one or two actors that I feel do not look the part, but oh well ^_^;;; (For instance... I am still not sure about Ninomiya Kazunari playing the lead in Ooku... but we'll see)
On a side note... Ōoku (大奥) Movie (2010.10.01)
Now I'm excited! So I found out earlier that Ninomiya Kazunari will be starring in Yoshinaga Fumi's "Ōoku," but only discovered today that Shibasaki Kou will be playing Yoshimune. I was thinking that they would pick someone with a signature personality like Inoue Mao's -- but not Inoue Mao because she is way too young to play Yoshimune -- and Shibasaki Kou is absolutely perfect for the role. She has charisma, her age is just right, and even her looks really fit the bill. She's a great actress and I can't think of anyone else more fitting for the role.
Inoue Mao would be better suited for Iemitsu's character -- though they probably won't do a movie for that arc. Iemitsu is emotionally and physically violent due to a harsh past, but grows into a sharp and powerful shogun. Since Hana Yori Dango, Inoue Mao has played very strong, feminine roles so young Iemitsu would be very fitting for her -- though it'd be better if she's older too 'cause the Iemitsu arc spans from her being a teenager till her death at 46 or 47ish. And to find the perfect Arikoto would be REALLY difficult. We're talking about a man who is so beautiful he can rival a woman. Other than Korea's Lee Jun Ki, I can't think of an Asian man who can look beautiful like that. Maybe Tsumabuki Satoshi, but I can't imagine him bald for even just a moment when he was a monk lol. Too bad they're not doing a movie on Iemitsu x Arikoto. I love their story the best so far, it's so poignant and heart-breakingly sad. Both are forced into their roles due to circumstance, but fall deeply in love with each other and their love lasts even after Iemitsu's death. They have the most beautiful story and it'd be interesting to see it in live-action, though a part of me is glad they're only doing the story from the first volume, because that's manageable. If they screwed up on Iemitsu x Arikoto, I wouldn't be able to stand it.
As for Ninomiya Kazunari... as much as I think he's a versatile and excellent actor, I'm still having trouble picturing him as 19 year-old Mizuno Yunoshin. I've gotten used to him playing mid-twenties characters that I can't seem to rewind him back a couple years =_=; Also, I guess I was expecting an extremely pretty man for the role or something... =_=; But alas... even I can't think of any Japanese man who fits the bill. Then again, lately I've been thinking Kaneko Noboru is very pretty, but a bit too old for the role ^_^; None of the younger to mid-twenties Johnnies seem to have the same presence that the character needs to command. In the end, Ninomiya may just be the best pick. Even if he doesn't have the ideal look I envisioned for the character, he will at least command screen presence and perform the role well.

Cannot Get Enough Of Yoshinaga Fumi
So I just finished reading all of the Antique Bakery doujinshi and Yoshinaga Fumi is a goddess in the manga world to me. Yes, I know some people go nuts over Yamane Ayano, Minase Masara, Takanaga Hinako, and such, but for me Yoshinaga Fumi tops as my favorite all-around mangaka. She has the most excellent stories ever created and I just cannot get enough of her. I love her works *__*!!! Love Mode by Shimizu Yuki is still my favorite boys love series out of all series out there, but when it comes to mangaka, Yoshinaga-sense is #1 to me *___*
Anyway, I just finished reading all fourteen Antique Bakery dj and they are all so good. It's almost like a string of extras that run in sequence after a manga or something.

The doujinshi cost so much @_@. I remember buying one from JPQueen and probably three from eBay. They were like $30 for one almost back in the day @_@. Yes, I had Yoshinaga fever even then. I'm willing to buy everything of hers in both Japanese and English, all doujinshi available too.
I really love the doujinshi series *__* It's so good~ Chikage x Ono is absolutely fantastic *__* The doujinshi gives more in-depth analysis on the characters compared to the actual manga and we learn more about Ono in this series ^__^. For all Antique Bakery fans, read the doujinshi, you'll melt~ And yes, the Japanese is all in Yoshinaga-sensei' handwriting so there may be times when one has to squint ^_^;

よしながふみ： きのう何食べた？
O-M-G! I LOVE YOSHINAGA FUMI!!!!! *hearts*
So, I have been buying all of Yoshinaga-sensei's works and I mean I own almost everything she has ever done manga-wise in either English, Japanese, or both. Recently, other than Ooku, the series that I've been reading is "Kinou Nani Tabeta?" (What Did You Eat Yesterday?) It is absolutely fabulous! I have never read a manga that has such an entertaining storyline with so much detail on food and various recipes within.
The story is about a 43 year-old lawyer who is a total narcissist, gay, exceptionally good-looking, and an impeccable cook, and he lives with his hair stylist boyfriend of three years, and he cooks for him. Each chapter has something with food in it and it shows lots of detail on how the dishes are prepared, plus it has a very entertaining story to each installment. It's almost like the storyline itself is a supplement to the cooking and food preparation within the series. It's very creative, fresh, and totally Yoshinaga-style. I just love her to death. This is such a great series and I highly recommend it if you're a big fan of food *__* Even better = gay couples x food x lots of humor. The overall series is very light and funny -- unless they suddenly go all dark and gloomy later -- and it's very enjoyable like a good meal ^_^

Skip Beat Chapters 148-149
So Hana to Yume 12/5 Edition came out and so did Skip Beat c149. After the cliffhanger from chapter 148, one can say that 149 was satisfying enough for fans who know of the delicate nature of Ren & Kyoko's relationship. Yes, after 149 chapters, the two have not exactly hit it off yet. We only see Ren suffering in silence -- not really, but he kinda is -- from his feelings towards Kyoko and his mad jealousy towards any of the men who approach her, and Kyoko trying to write off all the fluttering towards Ren as her reacting to his godlike acting abilities. Then at the end of chapter 148, Ren reaches in for a kiss and of course it just ends there.
During c148, Kyoko was plagued by the haunting memories of Sho robbing her of her first kiss back in chapter 146-147 or so. She made a special wine jelly for Ren and did not give him any chocolates for Valentine's Day since he did not really like sweets. When he saw how much consideration and care she went through to make the jelly for him, he was touched and then hover over her in a pretty comprising position. Then in the opening of chapter 149, we see Kyoko relive the bitter memories of past up to the point where Ren is leaning in for a kiss. Of course, knowing how Nakamura-sensei is a tease, he only kisses her cheek (yeah, he comes in on her right side and kisses her left cheek so she is VERY aware of what's going on). All the thoughts of Sho she had from before are completely banished as they are replaced by Ren instead. She freezes up and has a hard time concentrating on acting that day since her mind is full of Ren and her downright confusion. Then of course, the chapter ends and we have to wait until 12/18 for a new chapter =_= *sigh*
Waiting for Skip Beat is such a pain at times T__T, but I just love this series to pieces. I'm all for Ren x Kyoko. I want to see it go somewhere T__T but their "romance" just moves so slow =_=; Oh well...

Ōoku: The Inner Chambers (大奥)
I have discovered a great josei manga by one of my all-time favorite mangaka/storytellers, Yoshinaga Fumi. I love just about everything created by Yoshinaga-sensei and Ooku is no different from all my other faves by her. She always has such depth in her stories and her style when drawing people aging is really amazing.
I first fell in love with her when I read Antique Bakery (西洋骨董洋菓子店), and then I read Gerard to Jacques, which really solidified my love towards her work. She is absolutely brilliant and I have read every -- if not own every -- thing she's created (manga-wise) so far in either English or Japanese (or both). Right now I'm in the midst of reading and collecting Ooku. I bought one volume in English and I must say that the publishing is pretty amazing to me. Back in the day, they would have bound the thing cheaply, but now the companies are showing such care in trying to maintain everything as close to the original that it's pretty impressive to me. I can't say that I agree with all the translations, but I'm not too adverse to Viz as I used to be. I really wish it could stay a little truer in translation at times. But anyway, now that I've got a taste of Ooku, I suspect that I'm going to be buying the whole thing in Japanese from now on while waiting for the English versions to come out. It is worth owning in both languages.

For those who don't know what the Ooku is, it is basically the innermost chamber of the shogun's (top leading general) women during the Edo period in Japan. The shogun's wife, his concubines, his mother or the previous shogun's wife -- depending on whether the shogun is selected through hereditary means or through adoption -- and the servants for the women all live in the Ooku together, and it is locked so that no one can go in to touch the shogun's women or the women can't go out. There are tons of different strict customs for the women living the Ooku, and it is a place where olden day "office politics" among women happen ^_^;
In Yoshinaga Fumi's version of "Ooku," it is basically a retelling of history in which the truth of times is hidden. All the shogun in history have been male, but what if the truth is that they were actually all female whom took on male names in order to make it seem as though only men ruled Japan? That or one can assume this to be an alternate history, which seems to be what they're calling it. Anyway...
The story begins with a child in a village who gets mauled by a bear and is brought back into his village to die. With his death, a red pox epidemic arrives and kills mainly men, which then caused a shortage of men compared to women. Women would solicit men for sex in order to bear children, and only the most beautiful men are taken into the palace to be grooms for the shogun. All the shogun have been women whom assumed male names upon succession and the series is centered on these women.
This is probably by the far the most brilliant work I've read by her yet. I'm pretty floored by how beautiful the artwork is and how astounding her story direction is. I cannot say enough to describe how amazing this story is. For those who love Yoshinaga-sensei, this is a must-read. One should not miss out on it, it's really one of her best works to date. Highly recommended.

Nana Chapter 82
The last half of the chapter just makes you want to cry. One can see Layla's transformation into her future self in this chapter and it is heartbreaking. The traumatic scar left behind by Ren's death really is devastating.
Another part that just tugs at your heart strings a bit is the exchange between Nobuo and Hachi, when she asks him if it's alright to name her child Satsuki. T__T
This chapter came rather quickly after the last one it seems. But now I'm wanting more again T__T. As much as I love Nana, I do hope it ends soon. Waiting a month for a chapter is painful =_=;

Fushigi Yuugi
I got bored last night and then I decided, "Hey, let's watch Fushigi Yuugi!" I know that Araki Kae has a squeaky and annoying voice, and Miaka is not exactly role model material -- then again, she's only 15 you know =_=; -- but I really wanted to watch it. I was reading up on the Genbu series since I'm pretty behind with the story now, and then I just really wanted to read the first series, but all the books are back at home. I still need to buy the series in Japanese and English. Yes, while Fushigi Yuugi may not be the best manga series in the world, it definitely has sentimental value to me.
The reason why I was able to get back into manga at all is because of Watase Yuu's art style. I remember reading that series and saying "My god, this is the most beautiful style I've seen to date." I liked CLAMP, Watsuki Nobuhiro, Takeuchi Naoko, Matsushita Yoko, Soryu Fuyumi, Yuki Kaori, and a few other mangaka, but Watase Yuu really stood out. I was so in love with her style that I bought the entire FY series in Chinese -- which was what I could read best at the time and VIZ was still publishing the volumes in reverse, so that's why I did it. But her artwork was what helped me set my style and helped me draw really good patterns and poses. Now that I have a tablet, I think I've lost my touch with old-fashioned sketching and actual drawing. I wish I could go back to the old days in a way, but I'm too focused on keeping it looking perfect so it'll be a process.
Now that the story is being published in bunko format, I'm really considering buying it again... maybe ^_^;

Kaname vs Zero
It's so hard to choose~! I feel very fickle when it comes to Vampire Knight. I love both Kaname and Zero and just can't choose between which one I feel that Yuuki should end up with. I started out with pairing Yuuki to Kaname and haven't really wavered even after Zero and Yuuki got closer in a sense. After learning about Kaname and Yuuki's past, I was more convinced that the two should be together... but now these last few chapters have been just torture on my poor heart. It just breaks my heart to see Zero and Yuuki the way that they have been, and the angstier a relationship becomes, the more I want the two to get together =_=; (And yes, I do realize that it makes absolutely no sense at all). Because I love both guys, I actually don't mind which one Yuuki ends up with now, but at the same time, I really want her to choose the best match =_= Ugh, this is torture. I don't want to wait another month for the next chapter (>_<)!!!!

Skip Beat Chapter 130
Kyoko is just amazing *__*!!! I just finished reading the raws and I love this chapter! I think chapters 128 & 129 have been pretty good, but chapter 130 really shows how great of an actress Kyoko is becoming. Just by the way she treats Makino, she manages to convince the director into taking her suggestion of having all the girls in her Natsu-group wear their uniforms without a necktie so they look more fashionable and more fitting of their roles. However, when Chiorin takes off her tie, her role "Yumika," just does not seem to fit into the group at all. The director compares Chiorin with the Natsu-group as a group of triangles and quadrilaterals with one circle (Chiorin being the circle) so she seems really out of sync with them. He then calls her out of the group and asks for her to change her character's image (he says "雰囲気" which means to change the way she's portraying her character, and the way she looks so she will match better with the Natsu-group). At hearing this, Chiorin is shocked and angry. Even though she has set the stage for Kyoko to fail, she has to change herself instead.
Meanwhile, Makino confronts Kyoko, saying that she knows that Kyoko knows that she (Makino) did it (took the necktie), so why didn't she (Kyoko) say something about it? Kyoko says that it's because the director was only going to get angry, and since things have worked out pretty well now (in which Kyoko was able to show off her Natsu in a way), it's better this way, plus they're "friends." After a brief conversation, Kyoko manages to get the respect of her co-stars in a way.
Back with Chiorin, she is pissed that the director has decided to go along with Kyoko rather than punish her. Plus she is angry that she has been outdone by a newbie in a way (as she has 4 years of entertainment experience compared to Kyoko). With revenge on her mind, the stage is set for chapter 131 ^_^.
And with all that said, I can't wait for chapter 131! I wonder how Chiorin is going to battle it out with Kyoko and if things are going work out for our heroine or not. Chiorin is pretty evil looking in this chapter, so I have a bit of a bad feeling about this. I hope that Kyoko manages to get over this ok ^_^;;; Chiorin looks pretty dangerous. Skip Beat Episode 02
This episode was not too bad and is moving the story at a good pace. Lory Takarada's appearance was so funny and about the best part of the entire episode. I think my wanting to watch events that are closer to date kind of make these beginning episodes feel like a drag at times. I wish I didn't have to wait every week for a new episode T__T.
Anyway, in this episode we basically see Kyoko looking around for talent scouts to scout her, and then going to LME to find the head honcho so she can become a celebrity. She also torments Sawara-san for many days and nights before he gives her an audition form so she can enter for the newbie selection process. For some reason the "Sawara torture" scene seems so much funnier in the manga than actually watching it. Not quite sure why, but that's how I feel.
The episode covers every detail in chapter two and three and ends with Kyoko ready to perform Katsura-maki. Though the next episode should be entertaining, I think I won't be as entertained until episode 05 or 06 when she enters the Love-Me section. I want to watch the acting test with her wearing a kimono and such. I guess this means another 3-4 weeks, huh ^_^;

I also want to know more concrete details about Ren's violent past. Not sure exactly what to think about it 'cause Nakamura's storytelling seems kind of off-the-wall a lot of times. From my understanding of the story up to now, my theory is that Ren probably has a similar past to Ogata (the director of Dark Moon) in which people always compared him (Kuon) to his father, Hizuri Kuu, back in America. That or he only got jobs because he is the son of Hizuri Kuu, or no matter what he does, his father always overshadows his work so then people don't think of him as talented. Another reason is that Kuon might get a big head for being the son of Hizuri Kuu and think he is a great actor when he is not... though I don't think that is the case 'cause in the Kuon-Kyoko scenes, we learn that no matter what Kuon does, his father is always above him so he cannot be better.
Also, Kuu has mentioned to Kyoko that Kuon used to be a quiet and sweet child, so I'm assuming that people always told Kuon that he's second-rate compared to his father, which then made him into a dark, twisty and angsty teenager who got fired from work often so to unleash his rage, he went on a violent rampage and beat up just about anyone who annoyed him.
We know that Kuu and his wife, Julie, really love their son so they probably would want the best for Kuon so they wouldn't intentionally do anything to hurt their child, but their presence must be so big that Kuon feels as though he can never surpass his golden parents. And thus since Kuon probably rejected help from Kuu and Julie, Kuu has no choice but to seek help from his first boss, Lory Takarada. Since no know really knows Kuon in Japan -- but know him in America -- it makes Japan the perfect place for Kuon to get a fresh start and to regain his confidence (plus dissolve his rage). And so Kuon trained himself to become a gentleman, to learn and study as much as he can about Japan, acting, etc., plus control his rage so he can then bring his new image, Tsuruga Ren, to life. Ever since going to Japan, Kuon has not once stepped out of his Tsuruga Ren image, and has made a promise to Takarada that he will never become Kuon again until he has mastered his acting. (Whenever that will be is the question though =_=)
In any case, I think the stage is set for an explosion or breakdown eventually. If this story goes in typical shojo direction, Tsuruga Ren's real identity will be exposed, things will go really crazy and it'll be all chaos. Of course, I don't know if that's what's going to happen or not, but I do feel as though there's a dormant time bomb in the story. I'm really curious as to when and how this story will end ^_^;
But above all things, I'm a Kyoko x Ren fan so I really hope the two will be together in the end. She won't fall in love again, but it seems that she's falling for Ren without really realizing it ^_^

Skip Beat Episode 01
Though the coloring was funky -- well, it might have been the version I downloaded -- the character design and storyline actually stayed pretty true to the manga. I was very impressed. At first I thought that the design looked close to Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, but it actually looked a lot like Nakamura-sensei's artwork.
And then there's the voice acting *__*!!! It was perfect! Inoue Marina was just awesome, she had like 8 different versions of Kyoko in just the first episode and she was just superb. They could not have picked a better seiyuu for her ^_^. I really liked Miyano Mamoru too as Sho. At first, I was thinking... "Miyano... playing an ass??" I don't believe I've ever heard him portray a real bratty character before so I was really wondering if it'd work out, but I kind of like him as Sho. Konishi Katsuyuki only had like a few lines in the first episode, but I actually like his Ren too. He sounds more like Komui from D.Gray-man minus the silliness, but it's probably appropriate for Ren since he's only twenty. There are times when main guy characters who are only twenty have these really deep, 30~40-year-old-like sounding voices and I actually feel that Ren is 20 years-old in the anime. Of course, Konishi-san is well over thirty, but I like his voice ^__^
I really can't wait for the next few episodes to come out. One of my favorite scenes is Kyoko vs Matsunai Ruriko in the acting battle so I'm looking forward to watching that. I also like the Curara commerical audition, and when Kyoko becomes Ren's manager for a short while during the time that Yashiro-san is out sick, and Sho's PV session too ^_^. I wonder how many episodes this series is going to have. I haven't seen a long running shoujo serial for a while now, only shounen (adventure) epics. Most shoujo series only have 24-26 episodes and if it's extended, then they do season by season. The only somewhat long-running shoujo that's out recently is Nana at 47-ish episodes, but this is only one season until Yazawa-sensei finishes the manga. I wonder if Skip Beat will be doomed to 24-26 episodes or go for 40+ episodes in one season.
Speaking of doomed anime series... I wonder if this is all there is to D.Gray-man @_@; The very last frame of the episode says "Fin" and they even had Krory wake up at the very end rather than have him stay in a coma. I really wanted to see the hilarious looking chapters of "moving-out-of-headquarters" with the ghost taking over Krory's body and then infecting everyone with the zombie vitamin. *sigh* Oh well, I guess overall it's a good ending.
Anyway, back to Skip Beat...
After watching the first episode, I have ALL my Skip Beat manga out now. I'm going through and reading all the volumes I have and then online to read the most recent chapters. I just read chapter 129 today in Japanese and I have to wait until the end of the month for chapter 130 =_=; Kyoko is so good *__* She has gotten so much better and the story now is actually a lot more interesting than the last few volumes. (There was a time in the manga when things seemed to have moved slowly or off course, but it feels a lot more interesting now after Hizuri Kuu came to visit Japan with Kyoko as his caretaker and she is playing the role of model-like bully, Natsu).
I really can't wait to watch more of the series ^_^

Nana Chapter 78
Though I expected it, I didn't think of it so sudden. The chapter reminded me a bit of Princess Diana and her car crash death. Because the paparazzi chased her and her lover down, they sped and crashed. Same concept at the end of chapter 77 and carried over to chapter 78. So now we can finally and officially say that Nana and Takumi named their first child Ren 'cause of the original Ren. You don't usually give someone the same first name unless the first is already dead or they were your relative (like grandmother or father).
I'm pretty sad. I kind of expected that something would happen to Ren since the first future-related chapter, and I never thought it would be pretty, but this was very sudden. Reminds me a bit of reality in a way, of how things can just all change in the blink of an eye. Makes me so sad. Especially the part where Nana (Hachi) was asking Takumi, "What about Nana? What am I supposed to tell her!?" And how Ginpei tells Yasu that he can't seem to tell Nana and Yasu says that he will have her hear it directly from him. Meanwhile, Nana's in Osaka and has no idea what happened. I'm guessing a major meltdown is going to happen in either chapter 79 or chapter 80.
Seems as though all the stories I've been reading or watching have just been making me cry, cry, and cry. I'm just so sad at the moment after reading this chapter.

Addiction Starts With D.A.
Um... so... I recently became addicted to Katekyo Hitman Reborn only after I saved a million deviations (ok, maybe not a million, but quite a lot of deviations) from various and extremely talented artists on DA to my faves folder.
I've been thinking about watching & reading the series for some time now, but I guess all the 69x27 & 80x59 doujinshi and artwork has finally got to me. (I think this happened once before... with Prince of Tennis, I mean. After all that Tezuka x Fuji doujinshi that I read, I kind of wounded up reading the manga and watching the anime). Yes... BL & slash usually motivates me to start new series.
I think the only hetero pairing I've taken any interest in -- for a while now -- is Suzaku x Euphemia from Code Geass. Other than that, BL pairings usually interest me more. Ok, nevermind that's a lie... I like Squall x Rinoa too, believe it or not -- but the part about BL pairings is true.
Anyway, I was going through all these KHR images by three or four artists and I was like ... KHR... KHR.... Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn? The drawings are amazing and it really piqued my interest in the series. I saw this one image with Mukuro in it and I fell in love right away. I was like ... ... I have to go read this series now! So... I'm now dling the anime and reading the manga like a person possessed.
I didn't even know any of these characters to begin with, but I was already a fan of Mukuro without knowing anything about him. I love Yamamoto and Hibari as well. *laugh* Let's face it, I love all the pretty boys ^_^;;; I especially like dangerous, pretty boys.
When I was looking at the DA images, I saw a lot of numbers like 27, 59, 69, 80, 18, etc. and was like ... ? Apparently these are abbreviations of character names -- which I found out later when I looked up Tsuna in wikipedia. So 27 is Tsuna, 2 as in "tsu" (like futatsu or maybe it's two in English?), and then 7 as "na" like "nana" so 27 = Tsuna. Then we have 59 for Gokudera, the 5 is "go" and the 9 is "ku." For 69, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be for Roku or Muku 'cause Rokudo Mukuro is both 69 -- ah well, whatever works (though I think it's Muku 'cause lots of people refer to him as Mukuro rather than Rokudo). For 80 we have Yamamoto, so it's 8 for "ya" and 0 for "ma" as in maru. I agonized over this one for a long time 'cause I couldn't think of any other phonetic "rei" could be. For 18, I'm assuming it's "Hiba" as in Hibari 'cause 1 is "hi'' and 8 = "ha" or "ba," I guess it can be ba. But... *squee* I love Hibari and Mukuro ^_^!!
So yeah... I'm addicted to KHR now ^_^;;; I'm also addicted to my tablet and drawing. Lately, drawing has been a lot more fun than I remembered it being ^_^

D.Gray-man, Orange Days, ROOKIES
I was left pining for more D.Gray-man after reading this week's installment. The plot is really starting to unravel more and yet still stay an enigma. There's so much left to find out and so much being revealed as well. I really wish I didn't read so quickly and am so up-to-date =_=; Being up-to-date with a series really makes one miserable at times 'cause the wait for the next installment is always such a pain. But, that's what makes the series good, I guess.
Also started watching Orange Days yesterday. I skimmed through the first episode, but from what I see, I like so far. Tsumabuki Satoshi and Shibasaki Kou play the leads in this drama with a few other A-list young stars. If you like classical music, sign language, romance, and slice of life, then this is really the drama the for you. Reminds me of my senior year of college in a way, and I heard lots of good things about this drama so I'm looking forward to watching it.
ROOKIES is coming to a conclusion and it's going to be a 2-hour finale next week. Can't wait~! I somehow got hooked on this drama from last season after checking ratings. I'm not really a fan of baseball, but the story looked good after the first episode so I kept watching it. It's one of those "gambare" drama and I tend to really like those a lot, like Water Boys, etc. I hope ROOKIES ends well, it's not like one of those drama where you expect an angsty ending so I really hope everything goes well.

ROOKIES is coming to a conclusion and it's going to be a 2-hour finale next week. Can't wait~! I somehow got hooked on this drama from last season after checking ratings. I'm not really a fan of baseball, but the story looked good after the first episode so I kept watching it. It's one of those "gambare" drama and I tend to really like those a lot, like Water Boys, etc. I hope ROOKIES ends well, it's not like one of those drama where you expect an angsty ending so I really hope everything goes well.
