I should be sleeping so I'll make this brief, but...
The Academy Awards show this year was the best thing I've seen since Billy Crystal hosted. Hugh Jackman was a hit and awards were given to people who actually deserve the awards this year. I didn't watch Slumdog Millionaire before the awards show, but it really piqued my interest after seeing them win eight awards, so I watched it today and I was just blown away.
The story was great, Dev Patel's acting really captured the audience's attention and I felt that they really did pick the right guy for the role of Jamal Malik. The direction and cinematography was kind of artsy -- like art house movies -- but it was just so good. The music is catchy too so I'm just playing all the songs on repeat. This movie is the best thing I've seen in a while and I really did feel drawn to the film. My emotions were totally messed with while watching the film, when it came to sad parts, I felt my heartstrings tug, and when it got to happy parts, I felt myself tear up. It's a sweet story with just the right dosage of darkness and melodrama. It is totally my type of movie and I enjoyed it immensely. Highly recommend people watching it.
